Common Core

The full name of Common Core is Common Core State Standards (CCSS). It is a set of national academic standards introduced in the United States in 2010. Its origins can be traced back to 2009 when it was jointly initiated by the National Governors Association and the U.S. Department of Education. The aim of Common Core is to improve the quality of the U.S. public education system and promote standardization and integration of education across the country.

The main advantages of Common Core are:

     ● Improved consistency of academic requirements: Common Core provides a common set of standards for students and teachers nationwide, ensuring consistency in academic requirements and facilitating academic comparison and exchange across states.

Emphasis on depth and critical thinking: Common Core standards not only focus on what students need to learn but also emphasize how students should learn, think, and apply their knowledge to real-life situations.

Development of 21st-century skills: Common Core incorporates information technology and multimedia into academic standards, promoting students' development in areas such as information technology, communication skills, and collaboration skills.

Improved student academic performance: According to academic research, schools that have implemented the Common Core standards show significant improvements in students' academic performance compared to those that have not implemented them.
